Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation seeks an Environmental Technician for the Manh Choh Project in eastern Alaska to support sampling, compliance, and data reporting. You will operate sampling equipment, collect surface and groundwater samples, and perform monthly opacity readings under FGMI procedures and EPA guidance.

This role requires a high school diploma, up to one year of environmental experience, and strong written and oral communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; reading and writing instructions and basic math required.
• One year of environmental experience preferred.
• Knowledge of site permits and compliance procedures.
• Understanding of sampling procedures and safety rules.
• Opacity readings certification is required.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect waste storage areas, maintenance areas, water basins and camp facilities, monitor wildlife and habitat for compliance; report deficiencies.
• Collect surface and groundwater samples.
• Conduct and record monthly opacity readings.
• Complete various internal and external reports.
• Provide staff assistance to operation and maintenance personnel.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
• Work without risk of harm to self and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned
