Situated in the heart of St. Cloud, Florida, Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital is an 84-bed acute-care community hospital offering comprehensive emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care. Specialties include cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, orthopedics, radiology, and surgical services. Position Summary: The Environmental Technician I is responsible for executing daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and healing environment. This includes ensuring timely room cleaning and turnaround times related to patient throughput, following principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The technician plays a vital role in cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and enhancing customer experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Responding to inquiries or complaints from customers using appropriate engagement techniques.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other areas as directed, using designated chemicals and procedures.
  • Accessing and using department-related technology systems, such as Bed Management systems.
  • Replenishing supplies, removing biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linens daily, and changing curtains as needed.
  • Performing daily cleaning of patient rooms and bathrooms to accommodate discharges and admissions, following approved procedures.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, proper chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
  • Adhering to safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Operating UV disinfection machines as needed.
  • Participating in departmental performance improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Following infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning/disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, and PPE use.
  • Recognizing and adhering to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
  • Reporting unsafe situations and requesting repairs through Engineering Service Requests.
  • Communicating effectively in English, both written and spoken.
  • Maintaining regular, punctual attendance in accordance with hospital policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensuring compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.

  • Experience: No experience or less than 3 years in healthcare support, environmental services, hospitality, or related fields.
