Orlando Health is seeking Environmental Services Technician level I. The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for executing daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. This includes daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patients, within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, contributes to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and customer experience.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers using appropriate engagement techniques.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other areas as directed, using designated chemicals and procedures.
- Access and use department-related technology systems, such as Bed Management systems.
- Replenish supplies, remove biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linen daily, and change curtains as needed.
- Complete patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges and admissions, following approved procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning principles, proper chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
- Follow all safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines, promoting a culture of safety.
- Operate UV disinfection machines as needed.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives to improve customer experience and cleanliness metrics.
- Follow infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning, disinfection, hand hygiene, and PPE protocols.
- Adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
- Report unsafe situations and submit repair requests.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Experience
No experience or less than 3 years in healthcare support services, environmental services, hospitality, or related fields.
