Job summary

  • Direct and guide the day-to-day activities of Environmental Techs and others in the environmental area.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by monitoring processes and timely record keeping.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and assist in coordinating with maintenance department.

Job description

Entry Level $37.21 Day Shift Schedule Benefits Day One: Medical, Free Dental, 401K Match plus a Pension and More! The Environmental Technician is responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily functions of our environmental systems, including wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and air quality control. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, perform maintenance tasks, and uphold the integrity of our environmental standards.

Principal accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs, directs, and assists the supervisor, waste water personnel, and others as required, in ensuring all environmental regulations are met.
  • Oversees the operation of the entire environmental area.
  • Monitors and reports daily on all waste treatment, pond, and solid waste operations.
  • Directs and guides the day-to‑day activities of the Environmental Techs, belt press operator, and others working in the environmental area, as required (If applicable).
  • Responsible for setting and monitoring the operating parameters of the wastewater, pond, solid wastes, and air quality systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring environmental compliance through monitoring of the process and timely record keeping.
  • Performs various maintenance tasks as required. These may include, but are not limited to: Basic building maintenance, pipe fitting, pipe welding, equipment adjustments, alignments, equipment installation, valve maintenance, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitors, directs, and performs duties as required to ensure no odors emanate from the Company’s property. This would include straw blowing, perfume systems, and order neutralizing systems.
  • Plans and coordinates work with the maintenance department when assistance is needed.
  • Works without direct supervision effectively and safely.
  • Facilitates the movement, processing, and discharge of water by monitoring pond levels and utilizing associated equipment, which includes pumps, piping, and hoses.
  • May be required to fill in for the wastewater operator or mud press truck driver.

Job Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Basic math skills and an attitude of care with an attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Class D Wastewater Operator license within 6 months.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Solid Waste Operator’s license within 6 months.
  • Must be able to develop a working knowledge of all environmental process equipment.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and be able to learn to use the Company’s computerized maintenance system to write work orders and order parts.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of heavy equipment, including trucks, tractors, and pay loaders.
  • Must be able to work safely at all locations and under all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to read meters, gauges, etc., and prepare reports, both written and computerized.
  • Must be able to reference, read, and understand how to use MSDS information.

Compensation Range: $37.21 - $37.21 /hr
