You will assist with data collection, daily field reports, and basic equipment calibration, with opportunities to learn remediation concepts and report production.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs and supports field sampling of various environmental media (soil, groundwater, air, etc.).
  • Works in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying site conditions.
  • Communicates daily with technicians, project managers, and site personnel as directed.
  • Attends project meetings with senior staff as requested.
  • Assists with data collection, basic calculations, and documentation activities.
  • Prepares clear and accurate daily field reports describing site activities and observations.
  • Learns to calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment.
  • Assists with report production and basic office support tasks.
  • Supports environmental assessments, including: asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, radon, mold.
  • Begins to support installation, operation, and maintenance of remediation equipment.
  • Begins to learn the basics of remediation chemistry as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing principles.
  • Obtains required certifications as assigned.
  • Maintains organization and readiness of field equipment.
  • Performs additional technical and support duties as assigned

Job description

The Environmental Technician performs field-based environmental sampling, monitoring, and assessment activities in support of environmental consulting projects. This role develops foundational technical skills through hands-on fieldwork and supports project teams with data collection, documentation, and reporting. The Environmental Technician works under supervision while progressing toward independent field execution and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Required Qualifications


  • 0 years of related experience

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Obtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy

  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying site conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry field equipment (~40 lbs)

  • Very limited knowledge of environmental principles and testing methods (entry-level)

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and in a team environment

  • Basic proficiency with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops)

  • Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and field instructions (developing)

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented (developing)

  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies

  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required

The expected pay range for this role and location is $22-$25/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
