Job summary

The Environmental Engineer Technician 1 (EET1) role at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation provides essential administrative and technical support to the Division of Water’s Bureau of Flood Protection and Dam Safety. The position covers multiple sections, including Coastal, Flood Control, Floodplain Management, Dam Safety and Resilient NY.

Primary duties include processing financial transactions, maintaining records, and supporting field activities.

Qualifications

• Four years of technician experience in engineering technology or related fields.
• High school diploma with qualifying experience or technical program in drafting/chemistry.
• 18 college credits in engineering, geology, environmental science, math, drafting or surveying.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Process SFS financial transactions and travel reimbursements.
• Maintain basic financial, accounting, and statistical records.
• Provide phone support for the BFPDS line.
• Assist with FOIA requests and Community Assistance visits.
• Enter and verify data in SFS and DOW databases.
• Coordinate meetings and calendars using MS Outlook.
• Prepare, distribute, and manage mail and correspondence.
