Job summary

St. Luke's Health–The Vintage Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean and sanitized patient care environment and to support safety and comfort for patients, visitors and staff.

You will perform routine cleaning, handle waste streams per procedures, and use specialized EVS tools to ensure high standards of disinfection while collaborating with the patient care team.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate General Studies or GED with healthcare experience preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred at hire.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment as outlined in Standard Work.
• Remove waste and transport to disposal areas per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Identify proper waste streams (regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous) per established procedures.
• Adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Operate and properly maintain EVS tools and equipment to clean and disinfect the environment.
• Collaborate with patient care team.
• Be thorough and committed to safety.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.

To be successful in this role, you are thorough and committed to safety. You truly are the most important component contributing to the safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and staff. • Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
• Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up.

Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Practices critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
• Ability to collaborate with others as we are a part of the patient care team.
