Job summary

St. Luke's Health - The Woodlands Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to keep patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized, protecting patients and staff from infectious diseases.

You will perform daily cleaning tasks, use cleaning equipment, and learn proper disposal of biohazard materials, refill supplies, and support safe, comfortable care for all who pass through the facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas and equipment.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment per Standard Work.
• Safely remove waste and follow proper waste stream handling (regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous).
• Operate and maintain EVS tools and equipment used for cleaning and disinfection.
• Assist with facility needs such as conference room setups and moving of curtains.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.

• Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
• Performs duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Displays safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.
• Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up.
• Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Practices critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrates personal accountability.
• Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
• Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
• May be asked to perform tasks according to the various facility needs, including but not limited to: conference room set ups, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
