Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning duties to maintain an assigned area of the hospital or its related buildings in a sanitary and orderly condition.
Responsibilities
Assembles materials and supplies from supply rooms, stocks service carts, checks power equipment, transports to the assigned work area, performs daily cleaning and supply of the area as defined on the floor schedule, following departmental procedures, prescribed methods, and standards. Returns unused supplies to the supply room at the end of the shift, cleans equipment used, and stores it properly.
Prepares cleaning solutions, dusts windowsills, blinds, furniture, and other items. Empties and cleans wastebaskets, dries mops floors, cleans and polishes fixtures in bathrooms, offices, and patient rooms. Cleans showers and toilets, dusts or vacuums chairs and other items, makes beds with clean linens. Assists in cleaning emergency spills and vacuuming rugs and carpets.
Washes walls and ceilings, cleans lighting fixtures, tops of windows, and doorframes. Hangs curtains, moves furniture for cleaning, and notifies supervisor when assistance is needed. Transports trash and linen, waxes and buffs floors, and manages infectious waste. Changes draperies or cubicle curtains as necessary.
Maintains equipment and work area in a clean, safe condition. Reports repairs to supervisor.
Follows hospital policies on safety, infection control, and environmental standards. Performs duties during emergencies and as assigned, including heavy-duty cleaning and operation of power equipment.
