As a Rapid Responder, you will be on the front lines of emergency response and natural disaster situations, providing support for environmental and hazardous materials incidents, while setting your own availability schedule. Due to the nature of Emergency Response, this role requires candidates to be extremely flexible as there will be high variations in workload throughout the year. Responsibilities
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency and natural disaster situations

    • The Operations team will contact you for mobilization needs when you are available based on client needs and your qualification level. Being officially “on-call” will be available after specified trainings and advanced qualification levels. On-call is 24/7.

  • Provide support for environmental and hazardous materials incidents

    • While air monitoring is our primary response role, we are also proficient in other areas such as moisture mapping, general site safety, and environmental sampling to name a few.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work performed

    • Most project-related documentation involves use of our in-house data collection app. Above-average aptitude with technology is essential.

Education/Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Functional or higher computer literacy skills in a Windows-based environment required.

  • Experience in any branch of the armed forces desirable.

  • Experience and/or proficiency with industrial hygiene equipment desirable.

  • Experience using air and environmental sampling equipment desirable.

  • Relevant experience in emergency response, environmental response, construction management, etc., desirable.

Professional Skills, Licenses, Certifications
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

  • Must possess a current valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

  • Ability to pass a company-supplied pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter which include an illicit drug screen.

  • Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and be medically cleared and certified to work in HAZWOPER sites as required under 29 CFR 1910.120.

  • Ability to complete HAZWOPER certification and related safety training.

  • Ability to obtain DISA clearance.

  • Ability to obtain TWIC clearance.

  • Ability to complete all assigned job-specific OSHA training and clearances (including annual training renewals) to ensure continuous response readiness.

  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel internationally.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • FREQUENT: Sitting, standing, walking; lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day; overhead lifting of over 20 pounds; bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing ladders; long hours involving overtime and weekends as necessary; keyboarding/typing; ability to read from a computer screen, sampling device, and/or paper copy; ability to handle a large volume of work; frequent travel; wear half-face and/or full-face respirators as required under 29 CFR 1910.134.

  • OCCASIONAL: Driving noncommercial vehicles; shifts up to 24 hours; dress out in physically demanding PPE for site entry under 29 CFR 1910.120; wear encapsulating PPE.

Work Environment Details
  • May work outdoors in hot/cold environments with extreme weather; may encounter physical hazards and wear PPE; may work varying shifts including overnight; may work in environments with physical, chemical, and biological hazards.

  • Occasional: may work at altitudes above 5000 feet and on waterways, sea, or air.

Job Type and Compensation

Job Type: Part-time/temporary. Hours depend on available work; hours are not guaranteed. Benefits are not offered.

Compensation

Project Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Limited Project Pay Rate: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Training Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour or other applicable local minimum wage.

Potential extensive overtime opportunities at 1.5x or higher pay multipliers.
