Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is seeking an advanced Environmental Specialist to lead and perform environmental and cultural impact analyses for state projects. The role includes archaeological surveys, Section 106 coordination with state/federal agencies, and managing consultants.
The position requires a master’s degree in Archaeology/Anthropology or a closely related field, plus experience in environmental planning, budgeting, and project management.
The mission of the Division of Transportation Solutions is to provide excellence in transportation by developing, constructing and maintaining the State's infrastructure in a manner that results in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient multi-modal transportation network that enhances mobility commerce, and livability. In addition, Transportation Solutions provides high quality support services to other divisions in the department.
This is the advanced level of environmental specialist work which includes leading and performing the analysis of environmental and cultural impacts of State projects and/or programs and coordination with state/federal agencies.
This position will perform and manage Archaeological surveys within areas affected by DelDOT projects, including research, fieldwork, laboratory work, and technical report writing and reviewing. Duties also include consultation efforts and documentation associated with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The applicant must have experience implementing 36 CFR 800 and be familiar with Cultural Resources Management practices, budgeting, proposal development, and oversight of consultants.
Upon satisfactory completion of department promotional standards and job requirements, employees may be eligible to be promoted to the next level.
