The Brevard County Natural Resources Management Office seeks an experienced professional to plan, develop, and implement environmentally-related projects within the Save Our Indian River Lagoon program. The position is permanent, full-time, based at the Government Center in Viera, with a 8:00–5:00 schedule, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities include preparing progress reports for projects, programs, and grants, reviewing proposals and new technologies for water quality improvements, and
$2,295.68 to $2,525.25 bi-weekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs experienced professional work planning, developing, and implementing environmentally-related projects and programs in the Natural Resources Save Our Indian River Lagoon program. Work includes preparing progress reports for projects, programs, and grants in accordance with established local, state, and federal agency requirements, and reviewing proposals and new technologies for more efficient and/or effective water quality improvement opportunities.

Bachelor's degree in an Environmental, a Physical, or a Natural Science related to the area of assignment, including: Ecology and Wetland Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Marine Science, Resource Management, Marine Biology, Botany, Geology PLUS two (2) years of professional experience in an environmental field PLUS must successfully complete all of the classes for any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination within fifteen (15) months of employment PLUS must complete one (1) continuing education (CEU) course related to the assigned field within twelve (12) months of employment; OR two (2) years as a Brevard County Associate Environmental Specialist PLUS successful completion of all of the classes for any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination PLUS documentation of successful completion of one (1) continuing education (CEU) course related to the assigned field PLUS a current annual performance evaluation rating of 4.0 or higher, with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one (1) year. Familiarity with green stormwater infrastructure and experience with public outreach and education are preferred. A Master's degree is preferred.
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
