Job summary

Texarkana Aluminum is seeking an Environmental Specialist to act as the facility's environmental compliance expert. You will interpret regulations, develop and implement compliance strategies, and lead EMS improvements to support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

The role emphasizes regulatory reporting, permit maintenance, and serving as the technical resource during inspections and inquiries, with responsibilities including audits, risk assessment, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, or related scientific discipline.
  • Three or more years of environmental compliance experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Experience interpreting environmental regulations and applying them to operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations affecting manufacturing operations.
  • Evaluate new and revised environmental regulations and determine operational impacts.
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies and EMS improvements aligned with ISO 14001.
  • Maintain environmental permits and ensure permit conditions are implemented throughout the facility.
  • Prepare and certify environmental reports submitted to regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as technical representative during regulatory inspections, audits, and inquiries.
  • Investigate compliance issues and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead internal environmental audits and gap analyses.

The Environmental Specialist serves as the facility's environmental compliance subject matter expert by applying advanced scientific knowledge and independent professional judgment to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. This position develops, implements, and continuously improves environmental compliance and sustainability programs that support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.The Environmental Specialist evaluates complex environmental issues, interprets regulatory requirements, develops compliance strategies, assesses environmental risk, and provides technical guidance to plant leadership.
