Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking an experienced environmental compliance professional to provide comprehensive support across assigned regions. The role demands independent problem solving, broad regulatory expertise and the ability to lead investigation of environmental incidents.

Responsibilities include coordinating complex programs, interpreting regulations, and guiding cross-functional teams to maintain corporate standards while meeting federal, state, and local requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, health, safety or related field.
  • 15+ years of environmental compliance experience, or 15 years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to interpret environmental regulations and provide technical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as single-points-of-contact or coordinators to implement environmental activities that provide compliance solutions.
  • Provide direction for moderately complex work activities to comply with environmental regulations and corporate requirements.
  • Develop, implement and recommend improvements in programs, systems and procedures.
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Interact with subject matter experts and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of moderately complex Environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Anticipate and prevent Environmental incidents and hazards along with leading and conducting investigation of incidents.
  • Recommend improvements in moderately complex processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize environmental hazard potential.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies and a working knowledge of the scientific and technical aspects of regulatory requirements.

Job description

This position provides comprehensive environmental support to assigned geographic and/or organizational sections. The role involves moderately complex technical work across a wide range of environmental disciplines to achieve compliance with organizational Environmental standards and with federal, state and local regulatory requirements. Work is performed under very general direction, with independent determination and development of solution approaches. The role applies specialized technical expertise to develop, implement and maintain programs, systems and procedures, using experience to anticipate and prevent Environmental incidents and hazards.

Key responsibilities

Requirements - education & experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, health, safety or other related field of study
  • 15+ years of experience in environmental compliance and related work, or 15 years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree
Required skills
  • Broad knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance requirements and scientific practices
  • Quality assurance principles expertise
  • Strong collaboration, communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented focus
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and successfully complete each within specified timeframes
  • Subject matter expert (SME) skills in environmental disciplines
