Job summary

Chemours is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join the Thermal and Specialized Solutions team at the La Porte Plant in La Porte, TX. You will lead the site environmental program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements and supporting EHS-related tasks.

Responsibilities include guiding the site environmental resource, leading compliance for air and water laws, preparing regulatory reports, and participating in audits and training.

Qualifications

• B.S. in chemical or environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-hazard chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of RC14001, RCRA, NPDES, Clean Water & Air Acts.
• Experience with regulatory reporting (SARA 312/313, Air Emission Inventory, MACT compliance submissions).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Manage and prepare on-time reporting to federal, state, and local agencies (SARA 312/313, Title V, Air Emissions Inventory, Greenhouse Gas, Hazardous Waste, Corporate Environmental Plan).
• Participate in regulatory audits, enforce interactions with environmental agencies, and respond to agency notifications.
• Drive compliance activities for regulatory and corporate requirements, including environmental impact assessments of operations projects or process changes.
• Lead or participate in investigations of environmental incidents, implement system improvements to reduce future events.

The role reports to the Plant Manager and focuses on leading the site’s environmental program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, and supporting EHS‑related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and leadership as the site environmental resource.
• Lead site compliance for the Clean Water Act, NPDES, SPCC, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, groundwater protection, and RC14001 program management.
• Lead site compliance for the Clean Air Act, New Source Review/Performance Standards, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, MACT Standards, Title V permitting, emissions inventories, greenhouse gas reporting, hazardous waste, and the Corporate Environmental Plan.

• Support preparation of all environmental permit applications and renewals, and conduct regulatory applicability determinations.
• Drive compliance activities for regulatory and corporate requirements, including environmental impact assessments of operations projects or process changes.
• Evaluate environmental implications of site process changes and participate in project teams as appropriate.
• Lead or participate in investigations of environmental incidents, implement system improvements to reduce future events.
• Lead and coordinate 1st and 2nd party environmental audits and plant staff audits.
• Establish and update operating procedures and communicate them so that employees follow environmental requirements.
• Assist in development and review of environmental training curriculum.
• Participate on plant and corporate OHS committees / teams.
• Travel less than 25% of the time.

Qualifications

• B.S. in chemical or environmental engineering, environmental science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a high‑hazard chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment in an environmental support capacity.
• Working knowledge of environmental standards and rules (RC14001, RCRA, NPDES, Clean Water & Air Acts).
• Experience with regulatory reporting (SARA 312/313, Air Emission Inventory, CERCLA, NPDES DMR, MACT compliance submissions).
• Experience preparing waste characterization for off‑site disposal.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with operations, technical, and maintenance teams.
• Strong time‑management skills to manage multiple tasks within established schedules.
• Computer proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred

• Applicable safety certifications (CEP, NREP).
• Ability to interpret rules/policies and communicate oral and written requirements accurately.
• Experience providing environmental guidance in emergency situations and release response, including agency reporting.
• Networking and positive interaction with safety professionals.

Pay Range

USD 102,735.00 - 160,524.00 (local currency).
