Overview
The Environmental Specialist I supports environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, and sustainability initiatives. This entry-level role works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, reduce environmental impacts, and promote sustainable practices across operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with environmental compliance activities and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support environmental sampling, monitoring, and data collection efforts.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Help manage environmental permits and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Participate in sustainability initiatives and environmental impact reduction efforts.
- Assist with project coordination and documentation related to environmental programs.
- Conduct fieldwork, including outdoor sampling in varying weather conditions.
- Operate power boats and watercraft as required for sampling and monitoring activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–5 years of experience in environmental sampling, monitoring, or compliance.
- Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team on multiple projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Additional Requirements
- Experience operating power boats and watercraft.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
