Job summary

Garnet Health System is seeking an Environmental Services Worker to perform manual housekeeping duties in maintaining a clean and orderly environment within the hospital. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting patient care and staff efficiency by following proper cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities

An Environmental Services Worker is an ancillary employee who, under the direct supervision of the Environmental Supervisor, performs manual housekeeping duties in an orderly and sanitary manner for the purpose of maintaining the Hospital facilities in a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition, to provide a suitable environment for the care of patients, visitors and for the work of the Hospital staff.

The compensation range for the role is $17.94-$18.47 hourly.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred at hire. Must obtain High School diploma or equivalent within 18 months of date of hire or transfer if it is not possessed at hire.

Minimum Experience: Ability to speak, read and write basic English. Able to follow instructions. Previous experience in a housekeeping or custodial position preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements: Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching is required. Requires 100% standing or walking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words is required.

Working Conditions:

• Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.
• Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

Normal Working Schedule

Days, including weekend and holiday rotation.
