Job summary

CHI Health Lakeside in West Omaha seeks an Environmental Services Technician to keep patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized, protecting patients and staff from illness and hazards.

You will perform routine cleaning, sanitize with specialized methods, and follow proper disposal for biohazards while maintaining supplies and supporting facility needs. Sign-on bonus available for new hires.

Qualifications

  • No specific formal qualification is required at hire.
  • Preferred: High School Diploma with healthcare experience.
  • Preferred: GED with healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain a clean, sanitized hospital environment.
  • Use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize facilities.
  • Adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials and PPE.
  • Refill dispensers, deliver clean linens, and maintain cleaning carts and supplies.
  • Follow infection prevention practices and HIPAA privacy requirements.
  • Assist with conference room setups, stairwells, elevators, and curtain hanging.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.


Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.

  • Performs duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Displays safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.

  • Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.

  • Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up.

  • Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Follows all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE). Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).

  • May be asked to perform tasks according to the various facility needs, including but not limited to: conference room set ups, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
