Duties

• Duties for the position include: Assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis
• Reorganizing work schedules efficiently to ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner
• Coordinating work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other
• Responsible for the cleaning of all patient areas - corridor spaces throughout Medical Center - Operating Rooms - and all other areas as assigned
• Assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision
• Communicating with the Veterans and visitors to assure services are meeting expectations and to gather firsthand feedback on services performed
• Planning daily and weekly assignments - scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility - taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities
• Training staff and ensuring that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients - patients' family members and personnel
• Providing on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate
• Scheduling regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives
• Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods - procedures and uses of equipment and supplies
• Supervising the daily distribution of uniforms and textiles to the designated areas and persons and ensuring record keeping is timely and accurate
• Working independently following up on all work assignments to ensure that established procedures - work assignments and safety standards are being properly applied and adjusting as necessary

• Establishing and ensuring adherence to work priorities - project schedules - resources - and detailed work plans established by higher level supervisors

• Reassigning personnel supervised - and coordinating work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress and to meet schedules
• Implementing corrective action to solve problems as needed
• Supporting and communicating management programs to their subordinates
• Recommending promotion or reassignment - performance ratings - training - disciplinary actions - changes in performance standards - and the suitable applicants for vacancies
