Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a part-time Environmental Services (EVS) team member to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas, handle waste, and follow healthcare cleaning protocols to ensure high standards of care and a positive patient experience.

Evening and weekend shifts are available, with a $2 shift differential for evenings and nights. A sign-on bonus of up to $1,250 is offered for eligible candidates, along with competitive

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas across departments.
• Handle municipal and recyclable waste streams.
• Wear standard PPE as required.
• Follow hospital product usage protocols for cleaning and disinfection.
• Post appropriate cleaning signage to indicate wet floors and active cleaning.
• Report facility repairs as directed or observed.
• Use mobile technology to support bed management and EVS tasks.
• Perform detailed cleaning (high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents, lights).
• Collect soiled linen and transport to staging area for vendor pickup.

Performs a variety of healthcare environmental services (EVS) duties to enhance the healthcare environment by maintaining the location assigned. Ensures the very best patient/family/ customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions.

Job Duties

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient facing areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams to include but not limited to; municipal waste and recyclable waste.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment as required.
• Follows procedures for the proper use of hospital approved products utilized in the cleaning and disinfection processes.
• Places the appropriate signage in an area to indicate cleaning is occurring and floor is wet to reduce the risk of falls.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed, according to current established policy or procedure.
• Utilizes mobile technology to ensure compliance with bed management procedures and other environmental services functions that are performed daily.
• Performs detailed cleaning to include but not limited to; high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area for vendor pickup as applicable.
• All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.

Hours

Hours for this Part‑time position are 11:00 am to 7:30 pm or 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Must be available to work weekends.

EVS provides healthcare environmental services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
