Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician maintains a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident areas, following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Responsibilities include waste removal, floor cleaning, and using cleaning tools and equipment. They must demonstrate knowledge of cleaning processes in healthcare settings to ensure a sterile environment.

Tasks may include cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, restrooms, lobbies, elevators, stairways, and other areas, ensuring health standards are met. Proper protective equipment must be worn, and equipment kept clean and stocked. Technicians may also assist in laundry and use technology applications as needed.

Physical activities involve significant movement, lifting up to 40-50 lbs, and being on feet most of the shift. Work hours vary based on patient needs and may include overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Six months of housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
• Ability to use computers and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and methods
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Previous healthcare custodial experience is a plus
