Job description

Environmental Services Technician II- Full Time 2nd Shift

Join us for the Environmental Services Technician II- Full Time 2nd Shift role at Advocate Health.

Responsibilities
  1. Scrub, strip, polish, and refinish floors using appropriate equipment and supplies. Operate various cleaning equipment, including mechanical and electrical devices such as ringers, vacuums, electric floor machines, and sweepers.
  2. Clean or sanitize areas after emergency spills as requested.
  3. Analyze floor or carpet conditions to determine proper cleaning techniques following department procedures.
  4. Maintain hard surface floors and carpets according to department standards.
  5. Complete all job assignments timely and satisfactorily.
  6. Seek additional tasks proactively when time permits.
  7. Use and maintain equipment in good repair, keeping work areas clean and safe.
  8. Dispose of waste promptly to ensure hospital cleanliness, including hazardous, medical, and pharmaceutical waste following hospital protocols and DOT/RSPA training.
  9. Replace and transport sharps containers to waste staging areas.
  10. Collect soiled linen and manage rubbish removal, recycling, and waste compaction following safety guidelines.
  11. Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction, maintaining courteous and professional interactions with patients, families, and staff.
  12. Utilize AIDET communication techniques with internal and external customers.
  13. Support departmental services such as arranging and relocating furniture, completing terminal cleans, and assisting during peak periods or staffing shortages, including discharge room and OR cleaning.
  14. Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings, complete required annual CBTs, and pursue ongoing education for professional growth.
  15. Maintain punctuality and proper attendance, planning days off in advance and adhering to departmental policies.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; 1-2 years of housekeeping experience preferred. Basic computer skills are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to operate small electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners.
  • Excellent customer service skills and effective communication in English.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use lifting equipment or assistance for heavier loads.
