Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician II at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean, safe, and compliant environment to support high-quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedures, safety, and infection control standards. This role goes beyond immediate cleaning tasks to ensure a high standard of environment and customer service, and to identify opportunities for improvement. The Technician must be efficient, organized, adaptable, and flexible to support team needs.

Responsibilities

Job Functions

• Performs daily floor care, stripping/refinishing, and carpet care across hospital areas following SOPs.
• Performs all cleaning standards as needed.

Teamwork

• Strives for continuous improvement and ownership of responsibilities.
• Collaborates with all departments to enhance hospital environment.
• Addresses spills and trash promptly.
• Ensures high-level daily cleaning as part of the EVS team.

Clerical

• Completes floor care tracking sheets as assigned.
• Logs in/out of Tele tracking for breaks/lunch.

Customer Service

• Provides excellent customer service.
• Responds promptly to management and department requests.
• Identifies and suggests process improvements.
• Supports co-workers and departments as needed.
• Follows AIDET and High Profile Cleaning protocols during patient interactions.

Budget

• Uses supplies appropriately at all times.

Regulations

• Adheres to NMHS behavioral standards, policies, procedures, and applicable laws including HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred experience in EVS, floor care, and customer service.
• Knowledge of chemicals and SDS preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must complete EVS training during initial and annual refreshers.
• Must demonstrate initiative, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and in teams.
