Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Portland, OR is seeking a part-time Environmental Services Tech (Housekeeper) to join the team. Must have basic knowledge of housekeeping and laundry, plus the interpersonal skills to work with others and communicate with other departments.

The role includes following Universal Precautions, Infection Control and Safety guidelines, and ensuring cleaning standards are met. Preferred qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in environmental services/housekeeping or laundry preferred.
• Ability to follow Universal Precautions, Infection Control and Safety guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning procedures in assigned areas according to established procedures.
• Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment safely.
• Follow waste-disposal procedures per department policy.
• Accurately follow verbal, written, and pictorial instructions.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or needs.
• Order and distribute housekeeping supplies as needed.

Must have basic knowledge of good housekeeping and laundry practices. Must have the interpersonal skills necessary to work well with others and communicate appropriately with other departments. Capable of evaluating the quality of the services that we provide. Necessary to follow Universal Precautions, Infection Control and Safety guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrates required cleaning procedures in accordance with established Job Procedures for assigned work area(s)Demonstrates correct use of required waste-disposal procedures in accordance with applicable Environmental Services Department policy (ies)Demonstrates willingness and ability to accurately follow verbal, written, and pictorial instructionsDemonstrates knowledge and ability to correctly and safely operate and care for housekeeping equipment per Housekeeping Equipment List filed in Environmental Services Office. Able to identify and report equipment malfunctions/needs for repairsIdentifies needs for building repairs in assigned hospital work area(s)Demonstrates knowledge of correct ordering of supplies, required par levels, and distribution of housekeeping supplies in assigned work area(s) (i.e., soaps, cleaning agents, paper products, linens, etc.)Demonstrates correct and safe dilution/mixing and use of cleaning agents approved/required for use in assigned work area(s)Required Qualifications:1 year experience in environmental services/housekeeping or laundryPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma/GEDCompensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
