Environmental Services Technician I - Full Time, 2nd Shift 12:00pm-8:30pm

Major Responsibilities
  1. Clean and disinfect assigned areas, including walls, doors, ceilings, furniture, floors, and equipment, following specific procedures and schedules. Areas may include patient rooms, offices, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and other hospital or off-site facilities.
  2. Operate various cleaning equipment following departmental procedures.
  3. Use chemicals and solutions according to department policies.
  4. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
  5. Ensure customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations, utilizing AIDET communication, resolving conflicts constructively, and maintaining a courteous attitude towards patients, families, and staff.
  6. Follow procedures for cleaning after patient discharges, including sanitizing beds and rooms with appropriate germicides.
  7. Select and transport cleaning materials and supplies, replenish stock, and collect waste, ensuring adherence to safety and infection control policies.
  8. Prepare cleaning solutions, sweep, mop, and spot clean carpets, and shampoo furniture and rugs as scheduled.
  9. Move and arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning, meetings, or relocations, and report safety hazards or equipment needing repair.
  10. Collect and dispose of linens and waste, including hazardous and recyclable materials, following established procedures.
  11. Commit to professional growth by attending meetings, completing required training, and seeking educational opportunities.
  12. Maintain punctuality and proper attendance, planning for time off in accordance with departmental policies.
Education/Experience Required
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience. Basic computer skills preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to operate small electrical equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills in English, including reading chemical labels and safety materials.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; for heavier lifts, use equipment or assistance.
