Job description

Summary: Functions as an Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) in a team and mission-based setting to provide support functions to include: general facility cleaning and disinfecting at Northern Cochise Community Hospital and Clinics. Cleans and maintains cleanliness of all patient and public flooring, as well as various rooms, offices, hallways, and treatment areas, wheelchairs/other healthcare equipment, etc. Sorts laundry and performs duties incidental to the linen process. Working knowledge of cleaning and sanitation requirements as well as safe use of chemicals and personal protective equipment. Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality, and positive patient experience. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. This position may be asked to work at other NCCH-designated work location or sites as needed. Training is available and will be provided to the successful candidate.

EVS Technician is subject to call back during emergency conditions and/or occasional on-call for team coverage. This position is an essential worker which requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.

Special Conditions: Must be willing to work assigned Day or Night Shifts, Weekends, and Holidays [Sunday - Saturday] - Generally the EVS/Housekeeping hours are Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. and Weekends 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. [as needed or assigned].

Special Circumstances: Subject to rotation for on-call and call back after hours and weekends and during emergency conditions. Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations or designated administrator. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Six months housekeeping/laundry experience, highly desirable.

Must have good attendance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Arizona Drivers License, preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions as well as communicate clearly and respond to management direction.
  2. Take responsibility for own actions and keep commitments.
  3. Working knowledge of cleaning and sanitation requirements as well as safe use of chemicals and personal protective equipment; HIPAA privacy requirements.
  4. Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.
  5. Willingness to work a flexible schedule when circumstances necessitate.
  6. Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service-oriented behavior.
