Job summary

CHI Health St. Mary's in Nebraska City is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to keep patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized, protecting patients and staff from infections.

You will perform daily cleaning tasks, use equipment to disinfect, and follow disposal procedures for biohazards while restocking supplies and delivering clean linens. The role emphasizes safety and compassionate care for those we serve in a sanitary environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Responsible for completing daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
• Adheres to organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines while promoting a culture of safety.
• Maintains cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment as outlined in the Standard Work cart setup.
• Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area with proper waste stream handling per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follows infection prevention practices including cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and proper PPE usage.
• Demonstrates ability to operate and maintain EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens. To be successful in this role, you are thorough and committed to safety. You truly are the most important component contributing to the safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and staff. A well-maintained facility with compassionate staff brings comfort and peace of mind to patients, their loved ones, and all who serve here.

• Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.

• Follows all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).


• Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

Pay Range

$15.67 - $22.14 /hour
