Job summary

CHI Health St. Mary’s in Nebraska City is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to keep patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized. This role protects patients and staff from infectious diseases and hazards.

You will perform daily cleaning tasks, use specialized sanitation equipment, and follow proper disposal procedures for biohazard materials. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize patient rooms and hospital areas following infection control guidelines.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting with proper safety.
  • Operate sanitation equipment, dispose of biohazard materials per protocol, and restock supplies.
  • Maintain cleaning carts and equipment; ensure safe waste streams (regulated medical, recycling, etc.).
  • Adhere to PPE and hand hygiene requirements; contribute to a culture of safety.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.

  • Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
  • Adheres to all organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
  • Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up.
  • Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

We are offering a $1,500 Sign-on Bonus to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Pay Range

$15.67 - $22.14 /hour
