Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a diligent housekeeping/ laundry associate to perform cleaning and laundry duties across assigned areas, including resident rooms and public spaces. You will sanitize surfaces, manage linen inventory, operate laundry equipment, and stock supplies while following established policies. Availability on weekends and holidays is required.

You will work independently or as part of a team, coordinate with other departments, and support cleanliness and safety across the facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 6 months institutional cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of laundry equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, mops and sanitizes rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms and other areas to meet health standards.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstery and draperies with vacuums or shampooers.
• Empties trash, cleans ashtrays and transports waste to disposal areas.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
• Keeps storage areas and carts stocked, clean and tidy.
• Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses, linens and bathroom items.
• Works independently or as a team to maintain high cleanliness levels.
• Keeps chemicals secured and follows safety guidelines for storage.
• Knows where to obtain chemical usage information and uses equipment properly.
• Responds to emergency clean-ups and prepares rooms for meetings and events.
• Communicates maintenance needs to supervision and follows safety protocols.

Performs housekeeping/laundry duties in assigned areas in accordance with established cleanliness standards. Cleans furniture and equipment, sanitizes required areas, and collects/disposes of trash. Responsible for cleaning resident rooms, offices and public areas according to established policies and procedures. Operates laundry equipment, sorts soiled linen, delivers and stocks linen, maintains linen inventory. Available as required on weekends and holidays.

1. Cleans, mops and sanitizes rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met.
2. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
3. Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
4. Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
5. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
6. Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
7. Works independently and as a team to accomplish tasks and ensure the facility is kept at a high level of cleanliness. Interacts with other departments when necessary to enhance work flow.
8. Responsible for cleanliness and storage of chemicals in locked compartment and custody of assigned keys.
9. Knows where to obtain information regarding chemicals, follows direction in use and care of chemicals and equipment.
10. Responds to emergency clean-ups, moves light furniture, cleans glass, and and sets up for meetings, special events and other tasks as required.
11. Communicates with supervisor conditions needing maintenance
12. Adheres to all safety precautions and reports to supervisor or appropriate personnel, any unsafe conditions.
