Job summary

CHI St Vincent environmental services team seeks an experienced Environmental Services Technician to maintain patient rooms and hospital areas in a clean, safe, and sanitized condition. You’ll use routine cleaning tasks and specialized equipment to meet high hygiene standards and protect patients and staff.

You will learn proper disposal of medical waste and disinfecting chemicals, restock supplies, and ensure safe, thorough cleaning across patient rooms and facilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on floor care and institutional housekeeping, preferably in healthcare.
• Experience operating EVS floor care equipment (buffers, burnishers, strippers, extractors).
• Ability to learn proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to hospital areas (dusting, sweeping, mopping, trash disposal).
• Sanitize patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, and common areas using approved methods.
• Restock supplies in patient rooms and common areas; manage soap, towels, tissues, and linens.
• Learn and follow procedures for disposal of medical waste including biohazards.
• Remain friendly, patient, and personable with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Operate and maintain specialized EVS floor care equipment for hard surfaces and carpet.
