Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in AZ General Hospital Laveen is seeking an Environmental Service Technician to keep patient areas clean, safe, and welcoming. You will perform daily cleaning, disinfection, and waste management according to infection prevention standards and hospital policies.

In this role you will interact with patients, visitors, and staff, uphold safety, and support a positive patient experience by maintaining high cleanliness and adherence to PPE and hygiene guidelines.

Qualifications

• Proficient in cleaning and disinfection protocols.
• Knowledge of waste management and safe chemical handling.
• Ability to follow infection prevention practices and PPE procedures.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment; manage waste streams per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follow infection prevention practices including hand hygiene and isolation precautions.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Service Technician, you will help be responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While executing the assigned responsibilities, you will have contact/interactions with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. You will also be responsiblefor ensuring timely room turnovers related to patient throughout within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.

Every day you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic and aesthetically pleasing environment in a healthcare setting.

To be successful in this role, you must be proficient in cleaning and infection control protocols, prioritize safety and waste management, consistently follow all guidelines, maintain a strong work ethic, be accountable and communicate effectively.

• Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas
• Performs duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Displays safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment
• Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up. Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements
• Follows all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Requirements

Preferred

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous healthcare experience
