Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Durango, CO seeks an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will follow departmental procedures, perform meticulous cleaning, and provide excellent customer service to patients and staff in a hospital setting.

Key duties include routine patient room cleaning, handling soiled linens and waste, and cleaning high-traffic areas like Emergency, Surgery, and Pharmacy to prevent infection risk.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform 6 step daily cleaning procedure in patient room to a level acceptable to the patient.
• Perform checkout cleaning procedure in patient room according to departmental policies and procedures, including medical equipment.
• Perform intensive cleaning procedures in specialty areas such as Emergency Department, Surgery and Pharmacy to a level acceptable that eliminates the risk of infection to the patient.
• Removes and transports soiled linens, trash, infectious waste and recycling according to departmental policy and procedures.
• Prioritize assisting customers above all other duties.
• When cleaning an occupied room the Environmental Services Worker will follow organizational customer service script.

As our Environmental Services Technician, you will maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors, strictly following established departmental procedures and standards. Every day you will perform cleaning duties with meticulous attention to detail, ensure all areas meet hygiene and safety requirements, and provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and other staff members. To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong work ethic, thorough attention to cleanliness and safety, and excellent customer service skills, contributing to a secure and welcoming hospital environment.
