Job summary

Harlan-County-Health-System is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment. The role covers patient rooms, offices, hallways, and hospital housing with routine cleaning, disinfection, and routine upkeep.

You will follow infection control procedures, operate cleaning equipment, and assist with supply restocking. The position requires adherence to safety guidelines and the use of PPE as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and disinfection in patient rooms and hospital areas.
• Dust, mop, and sanitize surfaces, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
• Follow infection control procedures and PPE guidelines.
• Support department operations by restocking supplies and moving equipment.

Position Details:Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:00pm, Rotating Holiday and Weekend On CallPosition Summary:The Environmental Services Technician ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks in patient rooms, offices, hallways, hospital housing, and other assigned areas of the hospital.Essential Job Functions:Routine Cleaning & DisinfectionClean and service patient rooms, offices, hallways, and all inpatient/outpatient areas.Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment; sweep and dust-mop floors.Wet mop rooms, corridors, stairways, and public spaces.Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, mirrors, and high-touch surfaces.Clean windows, glass, vents, and light fixtures.Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mechanical floor scrubbers, buffers, and polishers.Waste, Linens & Infection ControlEmpty trash, remove waste and soiled linens, and ensure proper disposal.Follow all isolation and infection-control procedures.Operations SupportRefill soap, towels, and other supplies.Move furniture and equipment for cleaning, room setup, or special events.Perform other duties as assigned to support the department.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred.Core CompetenciesAbility to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.Ability to follow safety, infection control, and isolation procedures.Ability to use cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely.Working Conditions:Primarily indoor, onsite work within the hospital environment, requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
