Job summary

GRMC is seeking an EVS/Laundry Supervisor to manage cleaning and laundry operations across the hospital and associated buildings. The role includes scheduling, bi-weekly payroll, ordering and distributing supplies, and addressing staff issues to maintain high standards.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years in supervisory roles within laundry or environmental services, and possess high school completion and hazardous waste management training. Computer proficiency is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Hazardous waste management procedures including emergency response and contingency plan implementation within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years laundry and/or environmental services experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees EVS/Laundry staff, creates schedules, and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Orders and distributes supplies, and resolves personnel issues.
  • Ensures cleaning and laundry standards across all hospital areas.
  • Implements policies and training for caregivers to work effectively.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels and on-call readiness.
  • Reports issues to the Facility Manager and collaborates with management.

Description

Responsible for the performance of all duties related to keeping all areas of the hospital and associated buildings clean. The EVS/Laundry Supervisor supervises EVS/Laundry caregivers including but not limited to, making schedules, doing bi-weekly payroll, ordering and distributing supplies, and handling EVS/Laundry personnel issues.

Work Schedule-Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work as needed to cover the needs of the department.

Requirements
Essential Functions:
  1. 1. Understands and teaches how, when, and which chemicals are used to clean with.
  2. 2. Teaches how to clean and prepare beds.
  3. 3. Teaches how to clean rooms and bathrooms correctly.
  4. 4. Cleans floors correctly and teaches others to do the same.
  5. 5. Supervises others who clean offices and non-clinical as well as clinical areas and makes sure that it is done correctly. Supervises all aspects of laundry services.
  6. 6. Checks all areas, on a regular basis, to ensure that they are clean and free of debris.
  7. 7. Reports any problems regarding the Housekeeping Department to the Facility Manager.
  8. 8. Supervises the maintenance of all floors to make sure that it is being done correctly.
  9. 9. Makes sure that the biohazard and trash containers are picked up regularly and are clean.
  10. 10. Will manage the ordering and storage of all supplies and equipment used in EVS/Laundry.
  11. 11. Will be responsible for the scheduling of the EVS/Laundry departments.
  12. 12. Creates and implements appropriate Policies and Procedures to guide the safe and effective operation of the departments including training materials for new caregivers to learn how to work effectively in the departments.
  13. 13. The Supervisor will be responsible for the implementation of the organization’s Values and Behavioral Standards within the departments.
  14. 14. Must take on-call for departmental needs.
  15. 15. Maintains appropriate staffing levels and hires to maintain that level.
  16. 16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Director.
Education & Training Requirements:
  • Minimum High School graduate equivalent.
