Responsibilities

• Manages performance of routine cleaning in assigned areas following established schedules and prescribed methods.
• Ensures CRHS common areas and patient rooms are cleaned according to standards.
• Oversees cleaning of fixtures, walls, floors, vents and lights as required.
• Manages basic floor care using dry or wet mops, floor scrubbers, and vacuums.
• Empties trash containers following a prescribed cycle for areas and rooms.
• Removes medical waste and bio-hazardous trash per safety and infection control procedures.
• Responds to STAT cleaning requests from nursing or medical staff promptly.
• Allocates crew members for events, meetings, and training, per work orders.
• Ensures work orders for furniture movers are performed appropriately.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills and monitors equipment condition.

Job description

Under the direction of the Director, Environmental Services, the Manager, Environmental Service is an active member of the Environmental Services Team that delivers professional cleaning services consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of the Environmental Services Department and CRHS. This position manages Environmental Services’ work crews on assigned shifts. The Manager oversees the performance of routine and advanced cleaning for patient rooms, common areas and floors assigned following established schedules and prescribed methods. The Manager ensures that all equipment used is in proper working condition and ensures that all required cleaning supplies and materials are available and used appropriately and according to prescribed methods.

Basic Qualifications:

• Education:

Requires a High School diploma or a GED state certification.

• Experience:

Requires five to seven years of work related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Licensure, Registrations& Certifications:

This job does not require any professional or technical licenses, registrations or certifications.

• Manages the performance of routine cleaning in assigned areas following established schedules and prescribed methods.
• Ensures that all CRHS common areas and patient rooms are cleaned according to established standards.
• Ensures that all fixtures, walls, floors, vents and lights are cleans as required by established schedules and prescribed methods.
• Manages the accomplishment of basic floor care using dry or wet mops, floor scrubbers, and vacuums.
• Ensures that trash containers are emptied following a prescribed cycle for common areas and patient rooms.
• Manages the removal medical waste and bio-hazardous trash following established safety, containment and infection control procedures.
• Ensures that to STAT cleaning requests from the nursing or medical staff for cleaning are responded to in a timely manner.
• Allocates crew members for the set-up for special events, meetings, seminars, educational/training programs and ensures requests are performed according to work orders.
• Ensures work orders for furniture movers are performed appropriately.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills that are observed and/or requested.
• Oversees the maintenance cleaning equipment and ensures all equipment is in proper working conditions.
• Schedules equipment servicing and repairs as needed and in accordance to preventative maintenance schedules.
• Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Promotes team work on a daily basis and communicates work assignments and orders along with the expectations for performance and quality.
• Informs the staff of all relevant information necessary to perform assigned job duties and reports problems and concerns to the Director.
• Provides training to staff members and prepares work schedules.
• Ensures that assigned staff maintains a professional image and demeanor while performing their assigned job duties.
• Provides input into staff members performance evaluations.
• Correct, report and records all safety concerns and violations.
• Responds to and documents disciplinary issues in regard to staff.
• Completes all required and assigned paperwork and submits it through the appropriate channels.
• Provides training of new employees and routine training for all employees.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.
