Job summary

Summerfordrehab is seeking a Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor to manage the facility's housekeeping, laundry, janitorial services, and related physical plant to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

The role involves recruiting and leading staff, maintaining cleaning protocols, addressing resident concerns, coordinating maintenance projects, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years housekeeping experience in a supervisory/management position in an institutional setting.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, provide orientation/training, and retain qualified staff for housekeeping and laundry.
• Maintain a cleaning protocol and schedule addressing all areas of the facility.
• Resolve resident concerns or grievances related to housekeeping or laundry services.
• Develop schedules for maintenance projects such as wall painting and window cleaning.
• Assign daily tasks to housekeeping and laundry staff.
• Maintain linen inventory at adequate levels.
• Maintain physical plant and essential equipment in safe condition.
• Ensure personal laundry is returned to the correct owner without damage.
• Dispose of trash and waste per regulations.
• Complete required forms and documents per policy.
• Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance policies.

SUMMARY

May manage the facility's housekeeping, laundry, janitorial services, and / or physical plant to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Recruits, hires, provides orientation/training, and retains a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out the responsibilities of the facility's housekeeping and laundry departments. Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis.
• Maintains a cleaning protocol and schedule that addresses all areas of the facility and maintains resident satisfaction.
• Makes prompt efforts to resolve all resident concerns or grievances related to housekeeping or laundry services.
• Develops schedules for special or large maintenance projects, such as wall painting and window cleaning.
• Gives daily assignments to housekeeping and laundry staffs.
• Maintains linen inventory at adequate levels.
• May be responsible and accountable for maintaining physical plant and essential mechanical, electrical, and resident care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Develops and administers facility procedures to ensure that personal laundry is returned to the correct owner without damage from the laundry process.
• Disposes of trash and waste, including biohazards waste and other materials that require special handling, in compliance with appropriate regulations.
• Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring company policies and procedures regarding preventative maintenance are followed.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years housekeeping experience in a supervisory/management position in an institutional setting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the housekeeping and laundry staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible. Completes annual evaluations for potential merit increases for direct reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT

May be required to respond to critical issues on a 24/7 basis. Employee may be required to sit, bend, stoop, see, talk and hear. May occasionally lift or move items of up to 50 pounds. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. In compliance with applicable law, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions for the position.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Participates in (or conducts) company-sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of resident's protected health information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and state and federal law.
