Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL seeks an Environmental Services Team Leader to supervise cleaning operations for patient areas, offices, labs, and common spaces. You will open/close shifts, manage tasks, and ensure high standards of infection control and safety.

You will lead, train, and evaluate team members to uphold quality and efficiency. The role requires healthcare housekeeping experience, 1 year supervisory exposure, and CHEST certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Eighteen months of environmental services or housekeeping experience, including healthcare setting experience.
  • One year of supervisory or project lead experience; internal candidates with 6 months may be considered.
  • CHEST certification must be completed within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close shifts, assign tasks, and ensure all job assignments are completed.
  • Perform cleaning inspections and provide feedback to team members.
  • Maintain inventory levels and proper storage of supplies and linen; operate bed tracking and UV lighting equipment.
  • Deescalate issues and communicate status to supervisor; coordinate with patients and staff.

The Team Leader will ensure all areas of responsibility are completed by opening and closing the shift, tracking Team Member progress, performing quality inspections, providing supplies and equipment, and informing their supervisor on the status of the team's progress. This position performs a variety of duties that support the department in maintaining a clean environment for patients and staff.The Ideal CandidateAbility to take initiative and follow oral/written instructions and communicate effectively.Ability to work independently and unsupervised at times.Evidence of a good driving record and maintain a good record per Moffitt Policy.ResponsibilitiesCompletion of Job AssignmentsOpening and closing shifts, ensuring all job assignments are completed properly, ensuring adequate inventory and storage of supplies and linen, assigning tasks and projects, manage bed tracking application, answer phone calls from customers and staff members, complete customer requests, resolve daily operational issues, operate the UV lights, etc.Assumes responsibility of running shift in absence of SupervisorQuality AssurancePerform and document cleaning inspections; train and give feedback to team membersAsset InventoryEnsure adequate inventory levels and proper storage of supplies and linenEnsure proper storage of machines and floor cleaning equipmentCommunicationRepresent the Environmental Services department positively and professionally at all times.Follow up on cleaning or staff issues with ability to deescalate situations.Provide feedback to team members and their Supervisor on team members' performance.Maintain positive relationships and good communication with patients, visitors, staff members, and those within the Environmental Services department.Report all facilities/maintenance issues to Supervisor and input work orders.High-touch surface disinfection and cleaningProperly clean and disinfect all types of areas including clinical inpatient/outpatient (patient rooms, exam rooms, nurse stations, etc.), support/common areas, offices, labs, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, corridors, external grounds, etc. - Handle and dispose of medical waste and sharps observing all required precautions, including properly tying and labeling bags - Use proper chemicals, tools, and equipment for each situation - Clean spills containing blood or other potentially infectious material using established infection control, safety, and ES departmental procedures.Occasionally may have to travel to off-site locations.Complete other duties as assigned.Training and CompetenciesDemonstrate competency by completing required departmental education and training.Responsible for training team members.Policies and ProceduresFollow departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.) Perform all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.).Follow instructions from Environmental Services management.Credentials and Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED Required. An additional six (6) months of related experience may be considered in lieu of a High School Diploma/GED.Two (2) years of customer service experience.Eighteen months (18) of environmental services or housekeeping experience. Inclusive of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting.One (1) year Supervisory or Project Lead experience – internal candidates with 6 months supervisory or project lead experience may be considered.Must complete Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification within 18 months of hire.Valid Driver’s License required.Qualifications include: High school education or the equivalent, which will provide the ability to interpret and convey moderately complex oral and written instructions to employees. One (1) year of hospital environmental service experience desired with six (6) months of environmental service supervision preferred.Salary Range$17.53 - $26.50Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role.
