Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking an Environmental Services/EVS worker for Methodist Fremont Health Hospital in Fremont, NE. The role includes daily cleaning and disinfection of patient and non-patient areas, adhering to infection control guidelines, and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.

Schedule is Mon-Fri 3pm–11:30pm with every other weekend and holidays. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered, with emphasis on safety, team collaboration, and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Must pass department chemical identification test.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

• Complete all aspects of floor maintenance following procedures and timelines.
• Mop and machine scrub all hard surface floors; vacuum and spot-clean carpets.
• Clean upholstery and perform stripping/refinishing when needed.
• Dispose of waste daily and ensure proper handling per guidelines.
• Maintain clean, sanitary environment in all areas per dept. guidelines.
• Ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and proper identification.
• Report facility defects and maintenance requests to the appropriate department.
• Maintain adequate supplies and ensure orders are placed on schedule.
• Follow Infection Control guidelines and safety policies.

Provide daily cleaning/disinfecting of all patient and non-patient areas of the Hospital.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

Complete all aspects of floor maintenance following established procedures and time lines to ensure proper care of all floor surfaces in the facility.

• Mop and machine scrub all hard surface floors.
• Vacuum and spot clean carpets.
• Clean upholstery as needed.
• Perform stripping/refinishing of hard surface floors as needed.

Complete assessment, transport and disposal of all waste in a timely manner and following proper methods to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

• Complete daily trash pickup according to schedule. Replacing bags as needed.
• Ensure box pick up from Materials Management occurs and returns carts.
• Report improper waste handling following established guidelines and correct issues within scope of ability.

Complete daily cleaning of all areas according to departmental guidelines, providing a clean and sanitary environment.

• Look for conditions that require cleaning (e.g., spots, spills and trash, etc.) and correct or report issue in a timely manner.
• Maintain an orderly and clean supply area.
• Assigned areas completed as scheduled.
• Perform additional cleaning duties (e.g., wall washing, light fixture cleaning, lime removal, blind cleaning, etc.) as time permits in addition to completing projects.

Ensure chemicals are properly used when cleaning and sanitizing.

• Use chemicals safely and identify them by physical characteristics.

Report defects in the facility to appropriate department in a timely manner.

• Maintenance requests are reported to the work order line routinely. (Before breaks, within two hours ) Environmental Services (EVS) equipment needing repair is taken the Facilities basement area and reported by the end of shift.

Maintain supplies to ensure adequate stock is available to complete daily cleaning duties.

• Supplies are ordered by the end of shift on Mondays and Thursdays.

Ensure Hospital and Department policies and procedures (i.e., 7 Step Procedure) are followed while performing job duties.

• Uses proper Infection Control guidelines.
• Practices and observes safety policies.

Physical Requirements

Physical

• Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight (> 50 lbs.). Examples: grounds staff and EMS.

• Located in an environment with regular exposure to moderate physical discomfort from fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers.

Hazards

• Is subject to frequent contact with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.
