Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking an Environmental Service Technician in Farmington Hills, MI, offering part-time evenings (3:00 PM–11:30 PM). You will clean and disinfect patient areas, remove linens and waste, and help maintain floors and carpets. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and learning new skills with full training provided.

No prior experience is required; you will be fully trained and supported to grow within the department and contribute to quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Preferred High school graduate or equivalent.
• Preferred Public service and/or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect and stock patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to procedures.
• Remove linens and waste streams.
• Perform interim and restorative maintenance to floors, carpets and upholstery.
• Assemble, maintain and store equipment and supplies needed to complete tasks.
• Communicate and collaborate with team to ensure continuity of services.
• Report general maintenance and specialized cleaning requirements in the work area.
• Assist visitors and employees in navigating the hospital to their destination.
• Be fully functional within one cleaning area; may work across sites as needed.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required safety competencies.

Job Summary

You can make a difference in patients' lives as an Environmental Service Technician with Corewell Health. Your contributions in this role have a direct impact on high-quality care; you'll be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting assigned work areas, removing medical waste, trash, and linens, and maintaining the appearance and condition of our floors, carpets, and upholstery. Communication and collaboration with other team members are essential to ensure continuity of service and help foster a positive work environment. No experience is required - you will be fully trained and supported and can grow and learn new skills to develop your career.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to established procedures.
• Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
• Performs interim and restorative maintenance to hard floor, carpets and upholstery according to procedures.
• Assembles, maintains and stores equipment/supplies that are necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
• Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
• Reports general maintenance and specialized cleaning requirements in work area.
• Assists visitors and employees in navigating through the hospital to reach their destination.
• Fully functioning within one cleaning area.
• May be expected to work across department sites for coverage and business need.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
