Job summary

Martha's Vineyard Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Services/Housekeeping professional to maintain sanitary and safe patient and public areas on site at One Hospital Road, MVH. The role involves cleaning floors, rooms, and common areas and following infection prevention protocols.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent; 0–1 year of experience is preferred in EVS or housekeeping. The position is onsite with a 40-hour workweek and hourly pay ranging from $19.24 to $39.81.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions required.
• Experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and high-quality customer service skills required.
• Knowledge of various waste streams; Biological, Hazardous, General, Sharps and Recycling waste streams and their respective collection points.
• Knowledge of departmental Fire Management Plan.
• Responds to fire alarms and assist Fire Department as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas as directed by supervisor.
• Clean floors, offices, spaces, restrooms, and entrances.
• Sweep, scrub, refinish, polish and strip floors.
• Clean carpets, vacuum, shampoo, deodorize, disinfect.
• Make beds and clean patient rooms and bathrooms.
• Move furnishings as required to complete tasks.
• Keep equipment and workspace neat, safe.
• Perform minor maintenance as required.
• Lock/unlock doors and conduct security rounds.
• Follow infection prevention protocols.

Essential Functions

• Maintain assigned areas set forth by supervisor and/or manager.
• This includes the cleaning of all floors, offices, clinical and non-clinical spaces, halls, common areas (including stairs), rest room facilities, doorways, and entrances immediately outside of assigned area.
• Sweep, scrub, refinish, polish and strip floors using brooms and mops and power.
• scrubbing swing machine and floor machines.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Strip and remake beds; bundle soiled linen; clean guest/patient rooms, bathrooms, dust and sanitize flat surfaces; empty trash; vacuum, sweep, dry mop, and wet mop rooms, hallways, stairways, and other public areas; wash walls; move linens to and from drop-off locations.
• Assist with moving furnishings/contents as required to complete assigned tasks.
• Keep equipment and workspace neat, clean and safe. (Storage areas, EVS closets...etc.).
• Performs minor maintenance as required.
• Locks/unlocks doors and does security rounds.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
• Always follows Infection prevention protocols and standards.
