1550 Martha's Vineyard Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Services Aide to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and staff. The role focuses on cleaning all areas, safeguarding infection prevention, and maintaining orderly facilities on site at One Hospital Road.

The position is full-time, day shift, with a pay range hourly between $19.24 and $39.81 plus benefits. Prior housekeeping experience is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required; training

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; experience not substitution.
  • Experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred; 0–1 year preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of waste streams (Biological, Hazardous, General, Sharps, Recycling) and infection prevention.
  • Knowledge of Fire Management Plan and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned areas as directed by supervisor/manager.
  • Clean floors, offices, clinical/non-clinical spaces, restrooms, and entrances.
  • Sweep, scrub, polish, and strip floors using appropriate machinery.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, disinfect surfaces, and manage linens.
  • Keep equipment and workspace clean, neat, and safe; assist with minor maintenance.
  • Perform duties in compliance with infection prevention protocols.

Job Summary

Summary The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for performing duties to provide a clean, sanitary, and pleasant environment to a high standard to enhance quality patient care. Does this position require Patient Care? No

Essential Functions
  • Maintain assigned areas set forth by supervisor and/or manager.
  • This includes the cleaning of all floors, offices, clinical and non-clinical spaces, halls, common areas (including stairs), rest room facilities, doorways, and entrances immediately outside of assigned area.
  • Sweep, scrub, refinish, polish and strip floors using brooms and mops and power.
  • scrubbing swing machine and floor machines.
  • Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
  • Strip and remake beds; bundle soiled linen; clean guest/patient rooms, bathrooms, dust and sanitize flat surfaces; empty trash; vacuum, sweep, dry mop, and wet mop rooms, hallways, stairways, and other public areas; wash walls; move linens to and from drop-off locations.
  • Assist with moving furnishings/contents as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Keep equipment and workspace neat, clean and safe. (Storage areas, EVS closets...etc.).
  • Performs minor maintenance as required.
  • Locks/unlocks doors and does security rounds.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Always follows Infection prevention protocols and standards.
Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

Experience Experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions required.
  • Experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and high-quality customer service skills required.
  • Knowledge of various waste streams; Biological, Hazardous, General, Sharps and Recycling waste streams and their respective collection points.
  • Knowledge of departmental Fire Management Plan.
  • Responds to fire alarms and assist Fire Department as required.
