Guthrie Sayre is seeking a per diem Housekeeper to join our Environmental Services team in Sayre, PA. You play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, families and staff, directly supporting Guthrie’s mission of delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

As a Housekeeper you will perform tasks across exam rooms, offices, bathrooms, and lobby areas, following departmental procedures and using equipment properly.

Qualifications

• High school graduate preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience helpful.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions.
• On-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and appearance in exam rooms, offices, bathrooms, corridors, reception area and lobby.
• Operate cleaning equipment; vacuum, wash walls and windows; dust and mop.
• Pick up trash and transport to designated areas.
• Keep equipment and janitor closets clean daily and maintain safety practices.
• Follow dilution ratios for germicidal cleaning solutions.

As a Housekeeper in our Environmental Services team, you play a vital part in creating a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, families, and staff. Your work directly supports Guthrie’s mission of delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care across the region.

Housekeepers ensures a clean, safe, and aseptic environment across inpatient, outpatient, and office areas. This role supports patient care by performing cleaning, disinfection, waste handling, and equipment maintenance while delivering exceptional customer service.

Your Workday:

Per Diem- No set schedule ( no benefits) -Includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

A per diem position is an as‑needed job where you work only when the employer needs coverage, rather than on a fixed full‑time or part‑time schedule.

Position Summary:

Performs tasks to maintain cleanliness and appearance by following departmental procedures and using equipment properly. Areas involved are exam rooms, offices, bathrooms, corridors, reception area and lobby.

Education, License & Cert:

High school graduate preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience in housekeeping helpful. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. On the job training is provided.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintain cleanliness, vacuum, wash walls, wash windows, dust, mop floors, damp dust furniture.
2. Pick up trash and transport to designated areas.
3. Keep equipment, carts, and janitor closets clean on a daily basis.
4. Determine the dilution ratio of germicidal cleaning solutions.
5. Shows initiative in learning and developing skills in use of all equipment in the department.
6. Assists in the orientation of new employees in the department.
7. Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injuries.
8. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‑routine work assignments as required.
9. Demonstrates effective time management.
10. Takes initiative in doing extra work within areas of responsibility such as spot clean walls, baseboards, etc.
