Job description

The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH), under the Department of Mental Health (DMH), is seeking EVS Hospital Cleaners to join its Environmental Services team. As a member of the facility team, effective communication and professional conduct are essential. The incumbent will complete shift transition assignments, report end-of-shift duties, and notify supervisors of maintenance concerns.

Please Note:

Full-Time: 6:45am - 3:15pm (varied days off)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs daily housekeeping services across the hospital and campus to ensure a clean, attractive environment in compliance with all laws and standards.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors using appropriate equipment.
• Dusts, polishes, and washes interior surfaces such as windows, furniture, walls, and ceilings.
• Prepares beds after washing and manages window draperies and bedside curtains as needed.
• Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, and mop closets to maintain cleanliness.
• Empties and relines trash receptacles, handling hazardous waste safely.
• Prepares conference rooms, patient care units, and other designated areas as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for effective communication.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish harmonious working relationships.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in hospital housekeeping.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Effective two-way communication skills for patient service and team coordination.
• Bilingual or multilingual fluency, given the population served.
