Job summary

Terracon is looking for curious minds to join us as an Environmental Senior Project Manager. You will be responsible for managing subsurface investigations, soil vapor assessments, and remedial actions on behalf of our diverse client base.

This position also involves helping to develop new client relationships and maintaining our existing client base. Our offices are located in Plymouth and St. Paul with a flexible working environment.

Qualifications

• Lead safety culture and pre‑task planning (IIF).

General Responsibilities

Terracon is looking for curious minds to join us as an Environmental Senior Project Manager. You will be responsible for managing subsurface investigations, soil vapor assessments, and remedial actions on behalf of our diverse client base. This position would also be responsible for helping to develop new client relationships and maintaining our existing client base.

Work with a team of professional experts in our Site Investigation/Remediation department and work on dynamic projects collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ensure work is executed on time and within budget. You will help us identify, manage, win, and execute project opportunities while maintaining client relationships, and actively participating in industry and professional organizations to grow new client relationships and learn about current market trends. Our offices are conveniently located in both Plymouth and St. Paul with a flexible working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead proposal preparation and RFP/RFQ responses. This involves liaising with internal due diligence staff, Terracon National Account Managers, and/or clients with inquiries for services.
• Collaborate with other service lines (e.g., geotechnical, facilities, compliance) for cross‑selling opportunities.
• Manage subsurface investigations (Phase II ESAs, Limited Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations) to evaluate soil, groundwater and soil vapor.
• Manage remediation projects that involve soil, groundwater and/or soil vapor response actions.
• Identify, develop, and gather resources to complete these projects. This includes developing project schedules, budget estimation, selecting equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
• Lead IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture through safety efforts including pre‑task planning, preparation and compliance with approved safety plan.
• Take action to resolve operational problems (e.g., staffing/resources) and minimize delays.
• Coordinate and direct field personnel, office staff, and subcontractors to complete the project.
• Coordinate with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections.

Requirements

• Ability to independently analyze and interpret analytical data, technical reports, technical guidance documents, and governmental regulations pertaining to environmental contamination.
• Strong technical writing skills including written reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information verbally and respond to questions from managers and clients.
• Demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills with a strong work ethic.
• Strong experience with environmental investigation (including field data collection) and remediation related to commercial/industrial, transportation, and energy clients.
• Strong communication skills.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting or environmental engineering work.
• OSHA 40‑hour Hazwoper and current annual refresher.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline including Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history.

A PE or PG or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.
