Job summary

Crystal Clean seeks an Associate Environmental Scientist to support waste-approval and facility-compliance activities. You will review waste streams, interpret regulatory requirements, maintain approval data, and guide on hazardous waste and state regulations.

Essential duties include developing Waste Approvals policies, applying permit conditions, and communicating with internal/external stakeholders. The role requires Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related field, plus experience with DOT/RCRA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Experience with waste-stream approvals at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
• Knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations for solid waste, hazardous waste, and used oil, including federal and state counterparts.
• Experience interpreting facility permit conditions and applying them to waste-approval procedures.
• Experience creating Waste Approvals procedures and policies.
• Ability to adapt to procedural and policy changes, and work in a dynamic environment.
• Strong time-management to track details and meet multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn new processes and represent the organization professionally.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve waste streams and perform data entry for the facility.
• Develop and maintain Waste Approvals policies and procedures.
• Research and interpret RCRA, DOT, hazardous-waste and state requirements.
• Explain regulatory requirements to generators and staff.
• Apply permit conditions to waste-approval procedures.
• Identify compliance issues and track waste-approval metrics.
• Provide input to EHS managers on policies and programs.
• Communicate with customers about regulatory issues and operations.
• Travel to other locations or vendors as required.
• Perform administrative duties related to Waste Approvals.
