Environmental Scientist or Engineer – Decontamination & Demolition

Join us at GHD as an Environmental Scientist or Engineer – Decontamination & Demolition based in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of large commercial and manufacturing facilities prior to decommissioning or demolition, including sampling hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead paint, and other regulated substances.
  • Oversee contractors during hazardous material removal and facility demolition, managing budgets, schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Manage environmental data, perform analysis, and prepare technical reports, proposals, and work plans.
  • Travel up to 40% across North America for project site inspections and emergency response.
  • Perform field duties including environmental monitoring, construction oversight, air monitoring, UAV operations, and remediation system maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or Science.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in physically demanding conditions and respond to call-outs during non-routine hours.
