Job summary

The TEPA Companies in Sacramento, CA offers a 12-week Environmental Scientist Intern program. You will support inspections and sampling of suspected contamination, travel to project sites, and assist project managers with data reviews. 40 hours/week at our Sacramento office and nearby sites.

No prior sampling experience required; training provided; travel to sites as needed; paid internship with a focus on professional growth and practical lab and field skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, or related field.
• Within 2 years of graduation (rising junior/rising senior).
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Must pass HAZWOPER training (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Performs sampling at client locations nationwide.
• Collects samples to submit to laboratories.

ABOUT THE JOB

As an Environmental Scientist Intern, you will be responsible for supporting inspections and sampling of suspected contamination at various client facilities nationwide. Prior experience conducting sampling is not required. Activities will include traveling to project sites, assisting the project manager and other environmental scientists with data and database quality reviews. Database work may include scientific analysis of technical reports, collection of data from technical reports, and adding data to a database.

The Tepa Companies 2027 Intern Program is a paid opportunity for the duration of 12 weeks. Depending on your workload and school schedule, the work schedule will be approximately 40 hours per week in the Sacramento, CA office location and surrounding project sites.

• Performs sampling at client locations nationwide.

• Prepares draft technical reports.
• Direct interaction with clients at client sites.
• Provides support activities such as review of environmental technical reports, summarizing data from technical reports, and updating a database.
