Job summary

HGL is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to support federal environmental restoration projects across the United States. This role focuses on investigation and remediation of groundwater and soil impacted by PFAS, solvents, and petroleum compounds, with travel up to 50% and office work in Pleasanton, CA.

The candidate will work on field teams, prepare work plans and deliverables, and assist with data analysis and reporting, employing digital and AI-assisted tools to enhance project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Geological/Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of related environmental experience.
• Strong technical writing and documentation experience.
• Experience with groundwater, soil, and surface water methodologies.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field sampling of water, soil, sediment, and other media.
• Oversee field subcontractors during drilling, monitoring well construction, and sample collection.
• Assist with work plans, RI reports, SSHP/HASPs, and data analysis.
• Lead field teams and ensure safety and compliance across sites.
• Utilize digital tools and AI-assisted methods to improve reporting and data handling.
