Job summary

HDR is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to support projects across the power and infrastructure sectors. You will collect data, conduct surveys for listed species, perform field investigations, and prepare environmental documents for permitting and compliance.

You will work independently on medium-size projects or assist senior scientists on larger assignments, applying strong writing and communication skills while contributing to HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field.
• 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Strong environmental writing and communication skills.
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc.
• Assimilate and manage data
• Prepare constraints mapping
• Define the level of environmental analysis required
• Conduct environmental impact assessments
• Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
• Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
• Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance
• Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
• Perform other related duties as needed
