Job Description

This position is an entry to mid-level role with primary responsibilities including completing project-related tasks in the field and office. The job title may include Geologic, Environmental, GIS, Ecologic, or Biologic Scientist, depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect field samples of water, soil, or other media following standard industry practices or Moody's standard operating procedures.
  • Document field conditions of media such as soil, groundwater, surface water, bedrock, air quality (gases), stream substrate, and biological media.
  • Assemble, operate, and maintain field instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare notes, sketches, and site maps.
  • Perform data entry and quality assurance/quality control tasks for large datasets from field activities.
  • Analyze data.
  • Maintain excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Apply problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Communicate clearly in written and verbal forms tailored to the audience.
  • Utilize critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to evaluate solutions and approaches.
  • Work individually or collaboratively within a team.
  • Manage flexible work schedules efficiently.
  • Adhere to safety rules and practices mandated by the company and clients, maintaining safety awareness at all times.
  • Proficiently use MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Dependability is essential, including regular attendance.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or a related field, or at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Geologic Scientists should have sufficient coursework to meet Pennsylvania Professional Geologist licensing requirements and are encouraged to pursue licensure during employment. Other roles are encouraged to seek relevant certifications and licenses.
Work Schedule:

Average 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Schedules may vary and occasionally include weekends.

Physical Demands:

Must perform physically demanding outdoor tasks in various weather conditions, including hiking, carrying equipment, and long periods of sitting or standing. Ability to work in rugged terrain and adverse environmental conditions is required.
